My wonderful NATS colleague Megan Gillespie's Studio will be on faculty at the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Greve in Chianti, Tuscany this summer — and they're still accepting applications!

A wonderful fit for advanced singers — sopranos, baritones, and tenors especially encouraged. All singers are welcome to apply, and scholarships may be available. 🎶

John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman — recorded in a single day on March 7, 1963, with most songs done in just one take. ONE TAKE - "You Are Too Beautiful" needed two takes — Elvin Jones dropped a drumstick!

The intimacy you hear is completely real.

What makes this album so magical is the unlikely pairing — Coltrane 🎷, one of the most adventurous saxophonists in jazz history, and Hartman, a baritone crooner with one of the most gorgeous voices ever recorded. Hartman wasn't sure they would complement each other — but after one night hearing Coltrane play ballads at Birdland, everything changed.

It remains the only album Coltrane ever recorded with a vocalist — and what an album it is. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013, it is pure, unhurried, soulful beauty.
