A professor at UCLA was my guide, and a few years post my BA degree, I received an email flyer to work for a charity organization in Africa. Professor Apter suggested I ‘try it out’. The Reel Project Announces Maternity Ward Rehabilitation in Mpala, DRC

We’re thrilled to announce our next project: the rehabilitation of the maternity ward at Mpala Mission, located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In a region where maternal care is critical but under-resourced, we’re working to transform outdated facilities into safe, welcoming spaces for women and newborns.

Our team will be leading construction, equipping the ward with modern tools, and improving sanitation to support healthier deliveries and postnatal care.

This project is a reflection of our mission to uplift communities from within — one story, one family, and one ward at a time. Al Roberts- hats off to you!

Help us bring this vision to life.
