Yesterday we had our annual Move-A-Thon, and it was absolutely spectacular! From our exciting World Cup soccer match to the beautiful representation of countries from around the world, the day was filled with energy, culture, and community. We enjoyed delicious traditional foods from different countries and celebrated the diversity that makes our community so special.

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful families, students, and staff for making this event such a memorable success.

We loved seeing everyone come together to move, play, and celebrate!

We were so excited to welcome 8th grade students from The Overlake School as volunteers on campus! Our students loved learning, creating, and spending time with their new mentors and friends.

Overlake students taught 5th graders about kinetic and potential energy while helping them create successful marble runs through testing and redesigning. They also worked with kindergarten students during interactive math centers and a thrilling Mentos & soda rocket STEAMS experiment

In addition, they led and participated in clubs including capture the flag, Rubik’s cubes, chess, rock painting, soccer, and bracelet making. They shared lunch with GIS students, joined recess games, and even helped with classroom projects throughout the week. Their energy, creativity, and kindness made a positive impact in every activity!

Thank you, Overlake students, for the positive impact you made on our community!

For the past two months, our 3rd and 4th graders have been exploring the wonders of space through their STEAMS Astronomy planet research projects.
Each student selected one of the eight planets or a dwarf planet, conducted research using books and online sources, and created a PowerPoint presentation to showcase their learning. After practicing, they confidently presented and taught their classmates all about their chosen planet.
They did an incredible job!

Our 5th graders used AI-powered “vibe coding” to create a real-world Braille tool, are featured in a GeekWire article, and are the youngest students to enter MIT’s “AI for a Better World” competition!

At Global Idea School, Computer Science is a signature program that sets us apart. Guided by educators from Microsoft, Meta, and Google, students from Kindergarten through 5th grade learn coding, AI, computational thinking, robotics, and design while building real solutions to real problems. Instead of simply using technology, our students learn to create with it.
This is what learning looks like when curiosity meets opportunity.

Teacher Zoe from Nature Vision visited our school as part of the Cascade Water Alliance Water Education Program! 💧🐟
GIS students activated their prior knowledge of the salmon life cycle and learned a fun hand trick to remember all five species—ask your student if they can name them all!

We explored why salmon are a keystone species and why protecting our water matters. Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade students brought learning to life by acting out the salmon life cycle and testing hypotheses about where salmon lay their eggs. Meanwhile, 3rd, 4rth and 5th graders mapped the salmon ecosystem and its key elements.

We wrapped up by discussing simple ways to conserve water and why keeping storm drains free of pollution is so important. 🌎💙
