What it looks like; awkward pictures of yoga poses.
What it is; brave vulnerability, community, hard work and doing it scared, mentorship, learning by doing, breakthroughs, tears and giggles and deep fu***ng breaths.
Once upon a time I was a new baby teacher, and I'll never get tired of remembering what that's like. Grateful for my teacher team and the way they show up for the newbies. Grateful for the newbies and their big brave hearts. Grateful for for this beautiful community. Grateful for Yoga (with the capital Y).

Planting seeds. 💚
Grateful for the practice of nidra, vibrant community, hugs and tears and laughter. Grateful for connection, to Self and Source and sisterhood. Grateful for science that feels like magic, magic that feels like home.
Thank you communities for showing up and making this beautiful yoga fam such a wonderful place to heal.

Laying in the sun during a dusty yard work pause.
Today's class focus was all about finding the ease in the effort, sthira sukham asanam. The practice of doing the hard work that needs doing, but always with a mind towards graceful, easeful movement, whether physical or mental.
The hard work needs doing, but can you find ease within the 'hard'? Can you find the steadiness that pervades whatever the day brings you?

My green heart is full. 💚
Today was a grounding pause that was so needed.
The kiddo and I were blessed by bat, friend to fire, kissed by sun, rested with Raven, and grounded, connected, and moving forward. So grateful for a blessed life with space for space.

Meditation night!
This is my second favorite part of our YTT program. A whole evening dedicated to different styles of meditation so folks can try them on, see what works best, and create a practice for themselves.
Be still and know.

Onward!
Grateful for uno, wet walks, old trees and new jokes. For streaming swimming pools while it snows. For snacks and naps and old movies. For a life that has space for a pause now and then, when I remember to find it.
Closing a chapter means starting a new one. Onward with gratitude. 💚

Feeling very liminal today. 💚
It is good to step away from the busy and the chaos. To be intentional about pause in order to see the next steps. Life feels so busy lately, I had forgotten everything but just so the next thing.
Grateful for not doing, if only for a couple days.

We cried together, we laughed together, we moved together, we rested and rerooted together. Meanwhile the kiddos danced and played and made art next door. And I am re-membered.
Find community y'all. Find connection. Find little ways to help where you can. Fight and rage and mourn, and dance and create and love!

'Hey mom I made you something.'
'Well that's cool, what did you make?'
'You still have a Greenheart yoga business right?'
'Sure do.'
'Well I made you a logo!'
Hands me a beautiful hand drawn work of art.
..
'Are you sad crying or happy crying?'
'Super happy dude. This is really lovely.'

Why!?
People's nervous systems are shot from the relentless onslaught of modern life and you finally helped them get to a soothing, restorative place.
And then at their most vulnerable you're gonna TAKE A PICTURE?!

This is not ahimsa. This is not Yoga. This isn't even a kind thing to do in a non yoga environment to a bunch of strangers.
Other people's peace is not marketing.
It's tacky. It's rude. And it's gross y'all.

Why Greenheart?

In my own journeys through addiction and trauma recovery, the challenges of motherhood, and the adventure of divorce, I have personally experienced the powerful wellness accessible through wilderness and the practice of yoga. Through my own healing, I have felt called to become a yoga teacher and find ways to share these benefits with others.

My professional 200 hour yoga training was completed at the Viveka Yoga School, and included diverse modalities with a focus on mindful class sequencing for emphasis on anatomy and functional movement. Training since then includes yoga for addiction recovery theory, the study of yoga nidra and restorative/yin style asana, and assorted specialized workshops. It was in one of these workshops, diving deeper into some of the teachings about chakras, that I was overjoyed to learn that Green is the color associated with the heart chakra. What more perfect way to tie together my favorite spaces, my trusted wellness guides, my go-tos for goodness, than with a Green Heart!

Since then I have started creating guided hiking experiences where I am thrilled to introduce people to my local wild spaces where we explore and laugh and breathe before sharing a yoga practice beneath the forest canopy. My most recent adventures have included an exciting encounter with the local black bear, some foraging for wild food, and the most perfect summer rain during seated meditation.

If you are still reading, and perhaps feel a connection with my experience, I hope that I will have a chance to talk and laugh and feel and practice and heal with you some day soon! Be well, from my Greenheart to yours.
