Many thanks to all of our awesome Art Docents! Devoting time to planning and teaching an art lesson each month for the whole school year is a HUGE commitment and we are so lucky to have so many dedicated & talented parents involved in our program!

🌟 May Volunteer of the Month: Katie Scheid🌟 🎉💐! Congratulations to Katie Scheid, our May Volunteer of the Month!

Katie has been part of the Clara Barton community since the school first opened in 2017 and has supported our school in so many ways over the years. From serving as an 🎨 Art Docent and class assistant to chaperoning after-school programs, Katie has always been willing to jump in and help wherever needed. Her favorite role? 🐣 Chicken hatching facilitator — a student favorite!

Outside of school, Katie enjoys raising animals on her small homestead, teaching riders through her equestrian lesson program 🐴, gardening 🌱, and spending time outdoors hiking and biking with her family. She has also dedicated the past four years to disability advocacy work, helping improve children’s access to services across Washington State. 💛

Katie currently has a 4th grader and kindergartener at CBE, with another incoming kindergartener joining next year — meaning she’ll have THREE Bobcats at Clara Barton at once! 🐾 She also has a 14-year-old son who graduated from CBE three years ago, making the Scheid family true Clara Barton Bobcats through and through!

Art Walk Racks Constructed ✅ A team of 8 Art Docents met up yesterday to construct these 15 PVC pipe racks to hang our artwork for the Art Show next Friday 🙌🏻

These will be stored and used for many future events (theater, STEM night) without having to plan for rentals from the district.
