Trees Make the Best Mobiles!

In our Infant Community, the world is the curriculum.

Beneath a canopy of swaying branches, our youngest children are discovering that nature offers endless opportunities for learning. As they explore the nature trail, dig their hands into wood chips, greet the goats, climb steps, and carefully navigate uneven terrain, they are building far more than physical skills.

Every step, reach, grasp, and climb requires concentration, coordination, and problem-solving. Tiny hands pick up small treasures from the trail. Careful feet learn where to step next. Curious minds observe, explore, and make connections.

What may look like simple outdoor play is actually the development of confidence, independence, and trust in their own abilities. Our teachers are always nearby, providing a secure presence and support when needed, while allowing children the freedom to discover what they can do for themselves.

The result is something truly remarkable: children who see themselves as capable, competent, and connected to the natural world around them.

At Montessori Children's House, we believe even our youngest learners deserve the space to explore, take risks, and grow one tiny step at a time.

A Perfect Day at Golden Gardens!

Our Kindergarten through 6th grade students enjoyed one of our favorite Montessori Children's House traditions this week: the annual trip to Golden Gardens!

The adventure began with an exciting ride on the school bus, followed by a day of exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning at the beach. Students spent time investigating the tide pools, observing crabs, sea stars, and other fascinating marine life in their natural habitat. With curious minds and careful observation, they experienced firsthand the wonders of the Puget Sound ecosystem.

From sandy toes and salty air to moments of awe and discovery, the day was filled with the kind of meaningful experiences that help children develop a deeper connection to the natural world.

Thank you to our teachers and volunteers who helped make this memorable day possible. We are so grateful to learn in a place where nature is one of our greatest classrooms.

What a beautiful way to celebrate the school year.

On Saturday, our Montessori Children's House community gathered for Graduation and our All-School Potluck, a special tradition that celebrates our Kindergarten and Sixth Grade graduates while also honoring students who are moving on after five or more years with us.

With sunshine overhead, incredible food shared by families, and so many loved ones gathered together, the day was filled with gratitude, laughter, and reflection. We celebrated not only academic milestones, but the growth, perseverance, independence, and character our students have developed throughout the year.

To our graduates and honored students: we are so proud of all you have accomplished. Thank you for sharing your journeys with us and for leaving your mark on our community.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 and to all of the children whose hard work, curiosity, and determination made this year one to remember. 💙

One of our favorite traditions each year is our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

This evening gives us the opportunity to pause and celebrate the incredible parents who help make Montessori Children's House the community it is. Some volunteer in highly visible ways, organizing beloved events and activities. Others work quietly behind the scenes, preparing materials, supporting classrooms, and stepping in wherever help is needed.

Their impact reaches far beyond the hours they give. Their generosity, encouragement, and partnership enrich the experience of every child, every teacher, and every family on our campus.

Most of all, we are grateful for the trust our families place in us each day. Thank you for your time, your kindness, your support, and your belief in this community.

We appreciate you more than words can express. ❤️

We are excited to announce the winner of our 2026–27 MCH T-Shirt Design Contest: MCH parent, Daniel Steinberg!

Among many creative submissions, Daniel's design stood out for its simplicity, originality, and thoughtful tribute to Montessori history. Featured on the shirt are Maria Montessori, Alice Hallgarten Franchetti, and Narcissa Cox Vanderlip, three women whose vision, advocacy, and support helped shape and spread Montessori education around the world. Alongside them are Giuseppe Montesano, Leopoldo Franchetti, and Frank Vanderlip, whose partnership and support helped amplify their work and expand their impact.

Daniel's winning design will be featured on our official 2026–27 school t-shirt, and we can't wait to see it worn by students, staff, and families throughout the year.

Congratulations, Daniel, and thank you to everyone who shared their creativity with our community!

To us, it's a trail.

To them, it's an adventure.

Every rock, stick, leaf, and puddle holds the possibility of discovery. These toddler explorers are doing far more than taking a walk. They're building confidence, curiosity, independence, and a connection to the natural world.

Whether a child is 18 months old or 12 years old, nature offers something no classroom can fully replicate: perspective. It reminds us that we are part of something bigger, and that caring for the world around us starts with experiencing it, respecting it, and loving it.

On our 5-acre campus, children have the opportunity to wander wooded trails, explore nature up close, and experience the kind of childhood that can't be replicated indoors. At Montessori Children's House, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens outside, where children have the space to move, wonder, and simply be children.

The best medicine for learning? Sometimes it's a trail, a tree, and a little fresh air.

Our Upper Elementary students spent the afternoon exploring Evans Creek with Robin and Ethan, climbing trees, hiking trails, and discovering the joy that comes from being fully immersed in nature.

To them, it felt like a break from school.

To us, it looked like confidence growing, friendships strengthening, and curiosity coming alive.

These are the moments children remember.

Not because someone taught the lesson, but because the children discovered it for themselves.

Faced with the challenge of carrying a collection of water bottles, these students found a stick, threaded the bottles onto it, and carried them together down the trail.

Problem solving at its finest.

The best part wasn't the solution, though. It was the pure joy, pride, and confidence that came from realizing, "We figured it out."

Sometimes the most beautiful moments are the ones we never planned.
