Give Like Dolly Day is coming September 25! Dolly Parton believed in giving back and helping children dream bigger—and this year, we’re celebrating that spirit right here in Central Oregon through Give Like Dolly Day. On September 25, we’re inviting our community to join us in giving back to children by supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Central Oregon. Your support helps make it possible for children in our community to receive a free, high-quality book every month from birth to age 5.

Meet Allison Murphy, one of our amazing substitutes!

Allison began subbing in September 2025, and has accepted a permanent position as the new Art and Social Studies teacher at Sisters Middle School!

Her story is a great reminder that substitute work can fit many goals—whether you’re looking for flexibility and meaningful work or interested in a career in education.

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. Every month, over 4600 children in Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties as well as the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs find a book in the mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

Thank you, Dolly. We will always love you.
