Beyond the Canvas, in collaboration with Expressions Arts, invites artists to explore Beneath the Surface and create an original piece inspired by the meaningful details of everyday life. ✨
🖌️ All mediums welcome (except digital)
👩🎨 Age Groups: 9–12 | 13–17 | 18+
📝 Include a 100–200 word artist statement connecting your artwork to the theme
🎨 Maximum 3 entries per participant
🏆 Selected artists receive:

• Artwork showcased at our live exhibition at Sammamish Library

‼️Meet Meghana Donthireddy, our President of Taal Singing!
Meghana Donthireddy is a 14-year-old artist situated in Sammamish, Washington. She began her art journey at a very young age with simple drawings using markers and oil pastels. She expresses her ideas through abstract painting and detailed drawings with colored pencils, with the hope of bringing her emotions and creativity to life on paper and canvas. For her, art isn’t just a hobby but a way to connect with others, share feelings, and find peace. In 2025, Meghana received one of the awards in the Endangered Species Art Contest for grades 6–8, a recognition that shows her talent and love for art.

‼️Meet Anaga Narayanan, our President of Taal Fusion!
Anaga is a passionate dancer and artist who expresses herself through movement, color, emotion, and storytelling. As president of Taal Fusion Dance, she choreographs routines, teaches the team, and helps every dancer grow with confidence. She has performed in competitions and community fundraisers, while her artwork has been featured in exhibitions and reflects her creativity and unique perspective. Anaga is hardworking, caring, determined, and always excited to lead, create, and take on new challenges boldly.

‼️Meet Shreya Upadya, our President of Taal Classical!
Shreya began practicing art at the age of four. During her youth, she would participate in various art contests, charity events, and art shows. As a teen, the artist designs detailed drawings and elegant paintings, focusing on portraits with a wide variety of colors. Ever since she was young, her dream has been to pursue a career involving art. In November of 2025, she hosted her own art show and displayed her artwork to the public. Shreya has continuously practiced with a variety of mediums, growing her skills and working towards an artistic career. Along with art, Shreya spent ten years training in Bharatanatyam dance. As of now, she has choreographed and performed multiple dances as a part of the Taal Classical team.

‼️Meet Sneha Shah, our President of Taal Classical!
Sneha Shah is a high school student, artist, and educator who serves as President of Prep Academy’s Expressions Arts program. Drawing on years of teaching experience as a self-employed art instructor for young children, she now helps community members build creative and entrepreneurial skills, guiding students in launching and managing small businesses through art-based models. Her commitment to art as a tool for connection extends well beyond the classroom. Through Expressions Arts, she has led workshops at senior living and memory care facilities, supported shelters through mural projects, and earned the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for over 100 hours of service. Passionate about teaching and community building, Sneha believes creativity can empower people of all ages and bring communities together.

‼️Meet Ananya Nimmagadda, our President of Media Wing!
Ananya Nimmagadda is an artist, storyteller, and youth leader who enjoys sharing stories that inspire others and bring people together. She is the founder of A Slice of Art, a youth-led initiative that spotlights leaders and changemakers through interviews and event coverage. Beyond storytelling, A Slice of Art also offers free after-school art workshops for elementary school students, providing ongoing creative learning opportunities for local children. Ananya’s work has been featured in juried exhibitions, and she has received multiple top-three awards and honorable mentions in national competitions. She is also a three-time recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Award in recognition of her dedication to community service. As President of the Expressions Arts Media Wing, she hopes to create opportunities for young storytellers, amplify inspiring voices, and strengthen community connections.

‼️Meet Tanisha Dhawan, our President of Film Production!
Tanisha Dhawan is a high school artist based in Sammamish whose work explores her culture, history, and current events. As an award-winning teenager, Tanisha is community-driven and particularly interested in bringing different people together through one main purpose: art.
In addition to creating art, Tanisha is involved in film and creative direction, using visual media as a way to bring stories to life. She is passionate about building inclusive, creative communities and hopes to continue using her work to spark conversations, encourage empathy, and inspire meaningful connection among diverse audiences through storytelling and visual expression.

‼️Meet Zoya Eshwar, our President of Community Outreach!
Zoya Eshwar is an award-winning artist, changemaker, and youth peace advocate from Sammamish, Washington. She is the founder of Zoya’s Rainbow Touch, founder of Pastel Souls, and co-founder of A Slice of Art. Her artwork has been exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States and featured on legal tender commemorative coins. Zoya holds two world records and has received numerous national and international awards for her artistic excellence, leadership, and philanthropy. She was selected to design a 17-foot Middle East Peace Monument, using art as a powerful tool to inspire unity, compassion, and understanding. Through her creativity and service, she continues to empower communities and promote peace on a global scale.

Arna Verma is a high school student who has been passionate about art since she was young. She experiments with both traditional and digital mediums, exploring drawing and animation. She uses her creative skills to give back to the community through volunteering with Expressions Arts, where she writes monthly newsletters and strives to brighten others’ days through community service.
