Clip from a video 5th grade made as part of their year long green project. They have been teaching the whole school (adults included) what belongs in which bin. Thanks for stopping recycling crimes and making our school greener! π β»οΈ

The hundreds of hours that went into this year's W***y Wonka Jr. musical really showed! At Cascadia, we celebrate the full growth journey and every success and setback along the way. Full-school productions like these build determination, resilience, confidence, and so much pride in what we can accomplish together π¬ π π«

This year's Reading Challenge is almost over and we are so proud of our kids for challenging themselves with higher grade-level books, trying out new genres, and quite literally reading millions and millions of words. Plus they earned some awesome prizes along the way! Kids who started out not loving reading are now finding so much joy and pride in it, and that's what it's all about π

Partnering and growing together with families is at the heart of what we do. The biggest thank you to our incredible parents for all you do to make this community so strong and special. We appreciate you so much! π

After learning about reptiles in class, Pre-K and K welcomed special guest The Reptile Man π¦ who brought lizards, snakes, a tortoise, and even an alligator named Lucy who could fall asleep on command (we learned that alligators can be induced into a calm state by gently touching their eyelids!) What began as a ton of screaming quickly turned into laughter and by the end of the presentation, many brave kiddos were able to confidently handle the animals. They also started to make the important realization that animals have feelings too, and are often just as nervous to meet us as we are to meet them! Growth mindset and real world learning π

Congratulations and Bravo, Cascadia! W***y Wonka Jr. was a night to remember!
We are so proud of every student, from Pre-K through 5th grade, for bringing this show to life. Nothing like seeing an entire school come together on the stage π

Our 5th graders have been spending time tutoring 1st grade on their writing projects, and it is such a beautiful thing to watch!
1st graders started at the beginning of the year putting simple sentences together, and now are able to craft detailed multi-paragraph pieces with real structure and voice. Having an older buddy right there, someone patient and encouraging, makes all the difference in that process! And 5th graders walk away with stronger leadership skills too π±
