Migrant Education Program-Region 11, Oregon The frequent moving and changing schools makes education difficult for children.

The Migrant Education Program Title I-C is a federal program with the goal of helping migrant children and youth succeed in their education and graduate from high school. When families work in seasonal agricultural or fishing activities they often must migrate to different places in order to continue earning enough money to make ends meet. The goal of the Migrant Education Program is to alleviate this disadvantage by providing supplementary education services and support for migrant families. Region 11 is located in Central Oregon and includes the Redmond, Jefferson County, Culver, Sisters, Crook County, Bend-LaPine, Sisters and Mitchell School Districts. Migrant funds are allocated to the High Desert ESD, which employs three full-time workers (one coordinator and two recruiters) to identify migrant families and provide services to over 600 migrant students in the region such as scholarship application classes, summer school, Head Start, parenting and kindergarten readiness training, free accident insurance, leadership camps and much more.
