Art classes with Veny

Did an art hangout today with a friend 🙂 I choose watercolors and butterflies.

April has been watercolor and nature month in the kids art classes. For the second one we did birds. Between an American robin and a stellar jay, the kids picked the jay.

April has been watercolor and nature month in the kids art classes. For the first one we did spring flowers - snowdrops, crocuses and violets.

Paint and sip with my girlfriends this morning. In honor of the Asian New Year we painted a dragon puppet.

Today the kids and I did portraits of a favorite character with color pencils. So we talked proportions of a face and we talked about using and mixing colors when working with pencils.

(I chose to draw Talia from “Arrows of the Queen” by Mercedes Lackey.)

Next class I am doing is oil pastels with the kids of good friends. I have never used oil pastels, so I had to practice to get a feel for the medium. Not sure what the kids will want to draw tomorrow, but I used a flower for my practice.

Just had a paint and sip get together with my friends - I thought them how to paint a poinsettia with acrylics.
