A new school year has begun at Mango Montessori. ❤️
September is a time of settling in, getting comfortable in a new environment, building bonds with teachers, and learning the rhythm of the classroom. Our Grace and Courtesy, Practical Life, and Montessori lessons are beginning to take shape.
One of the very first lessons we give a child is how to roll and unroll their work mat.
It may look like a simple task, but it is an important part of the Montessori classroom. Children learn to carry the mat carefully, unroll it with control, place their work on it, and roll it back up when they are finished.
Through this simple daily practice, children develop coordination, concentration, control of movement, independence, and respect for their work and the classroom environment.
These small, everyday lessons are the foundation of a Montessori classroom. Teachers guide, and children lead.
