Instructor Spotlight: Fernando Velazquez

Throughout his incredible career, Fernando has performed with some of the most renowned mariachi groups in the world, including Mariachi Sol de México, Mariachi Los Camperos, and spent 16 years with the legendary Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán.

Our founder, Matisse Rainbolt, visited the folklórico students at Boyd Elementary School for a special reading of “Matisse Azul and the Magic Shoes.”
Rooted in her personal experience as a young folklórico dancer, the story teaches students that the magic they seek to persevere lives within them.

We are proud to preserve, honor, and celebrate the beauty of Hispanic culture through the power of performing arts.

In our African Dance and Drumming program, students learn "Fanga Alafia". A traditional welcome song and dance representing peace, unity, and connection.

Not only does it get students moving, but it also encourages them to share, appreciate, and celebrate African culture.

As a song traditionally used to welcome loved ones into a shared space, our students perform "Fanga Alafia" as the opening piece for their school showcases!
