SPEDgenuity Building strong partnerships between schools and families creating equity for all.

I help parents understand the IEP process, special education law and their parent rights and procedural safeguards. I help parents develop the knowledge and strategies they need to help the IEP team develop an IEP that meets their child's individual needs. I coach parents and help them prepare for IEP meetings, Due Process meetings and other school related matters that require them to serve as their child's advocate in educationally related matters. I support parents and their children by serving as a special education advocate at IEP meetings and helping parents work with and challenge the district to ensure that the school district and IEP team develop an IEP that provides the child the free and appropriate education that meets the child's individual needs. More importantly, I advocate for the parent's voice and the child's need to be heard and considered in the development of the child's IEP.
