We at Music Lessons Central are very sad to see piano instructor Christina Cruickshank leave us to become a full time real estate agent. Although it's an exciting decision to make, it's also a difficult one for Christina. She loves teaching and is very good at it. It's been a really good run for her and us at MLC! She's been successful thus far with stepping into her new life as a real estate agent and in order to go all in, she decided this is best. We wish her much success and leave the door open for her return if she wants to just teach one day a week or more, she's got options.
We are excited to announce the return of one of our piano instructors from years ago, David Mount! I've personally performed many live shows of various styles with David Mount and can say, he's the best piano player I've ever played with in my entire life, professionally or just for fun! This gentleman is just on a different level than the rest of us mortals, lol! Don't get me wrong, I've played with some great piano players through the years and respect them deeply, but any one of them would agree, David is mind blowing.
If interested in signing up, David Mount will be starting on October 1st and will teach Monday through Friday in the afternoon/early evening. Many of Christina's students will be transferring to Dave, since she's planning on not teaching anymore, but he does currently have openings. I've attached a short bio here. Music Lessons Central is proud to present you our new instructor, David Mount:
PS: After reading his bio, I was curious so I figured out that as a conservative estimate, I've taught 67,200 drum lessons! lol Holy cow I'm old!

It is with great enthusiasm we welcome our new teacher, Anna Anderson, to the Music Lessons Central family! Anna will begin teaching with us in July and has already begun accepting students. The following is her bio to share:
Anna Anderson – Music Teacher, Violinist, Vocalist, and Pianist
Anna Anderson is a dedicated music educator and professional musician with nearly two decades of experience on the violin. Beginning her musical journey at the age of four, Anna’s lifelong passion for music has shaped both her personal and professional life.
A graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Music, Anna has built a diverse and dynamic career. She has recorded and performed with a range of artists in Los Angeles, including work with Fox Studios, and has appeared as a soloist with orchestra. In addition to her violin expertise, Anna is a professionally trained vocalist and has experience in studio recording and live performance. She has also received formal piano training, further enriching her musical versatility.
As a teacher, Anna brings enthusiasm, experience, and a deep love for music to every lesson. She believes that learning music should be joyful and inspiring, while also helping students develop strong habits of focus, discipline, and confidence. Her goal is to nurture each student’s unique musical voice and to make music a meaningful and lasting part of their lives.

In this crazy bizarro world of late, it’s nice to report that good old-fashioned dedication to something one wants to do can still bring much happiness to those that put forth the effort!

Meet this little guy with long rocker hair, named Felix, who is one of my students. Felix is currently 6yrs old and has started his 4th full length song with me as well as much more. Although it’s great to jam with a song and make up your own beats and fills (which he does), it’s also great to learn to read music, learn the names of all the notes and rests along with other music theory along the way. At home, all my students can do whatever they want as far jamming and I encourage them to do so, but these songs, he and other students play, are played note for note reading and keeping track of the whole song with one and two bar repeats, section repeats, D.S. al Coda, D.C. al Coda, 1st and 2nd endings, dynamics and more from beginning to end.
This little guy’s mom plays violin and also teaches. She has been a big help being very involved with his practice routine. Felix practices so much, and even on his own without being told to, that his mom has recently purchased drum muffles from me for the drumset they picked up from me at Christmas since he’s loud and plays all the time, lol. Some folks just get it, you get out what you put in! Dedication and perseverance does not equal no fun, it’s the opposite! Now that he stands on a strong foundation of music theory, we can easily keep building on it to keep advancing. At some point, if he chooses another instrument, everything he has learned can be applied to that and he’ll have a huge head start since he understands what he’s doing.
It’s simple, one doesn’t just magically learn all this stuff with zero effort or time put in. With a little effort and dedication, one can learn so much it can give joy for the rest of one's life! Also by truly trying, many other benefits will shine through in ways one can hardly imagine. Even folks with learning disabilities (thankfully Felix doesn’t have to overcome that) can advance if they just try, it might be harder but it’s good to try! Tip of the hat to Felix, keep rocking little man and kudos to already developing a good work ethic at the age of 6!
