Dear Cornerstone Family -

YOU can help Cornerstone receive a $5,000 grant from our friends at the Catholic Foundation of Michigan. The local charity with the most community votes by May 18, 2020 will be the recipient of this generous grant designed to help fund critical services during the Covid-19 furlough.

Cornerstone will use this grant to help fund two of the critical services that we are providing at this time:
Food distribution to families in need
Acquisition and distribution of more Chromebooks to families so that remote learning can continue

Good morning parents and guardians. It is looking like the Governor is going to keep schools closed for the remainder of the year. She is scheduled to make the announcement tomorrow morning.

As a result we need to make sure Cornerstone provides our children with proper summer learning materials and equipment such as laptops. Parents will also need to secure internet access if you do not already have it. Comcast is currently offering low cost internet to homes with school age children.

$10 per month for internet access. This is a great and much needed resource I highly encourage you all to look into. If you have questions please feel free to ask.

As always I hope you all are stay safe indoors and finding productive ways to fill your time.

Greetings parents and guardians. We are officially out of school for the next 30 days. I hope you are stimulating your child's education in some way. There are a lot of online lessons and activities available to you. I will be posting more resources soon.

Did you get worksheets from the school with questions you can't answer because you don't have the book? I did for my 3rd grader. Well I wanted you to know, instead of creating a problem by complaining about not having the book, do what we did. Contact the publisher of the book. (Name of publisher located on the bottom of the worksheet)

The publisher was more then happy to provide us with an access code to the online book.😉 Problem Solved🤷‍♂️ Even during stressful challenging times we have to show our level of tack, resilience, and intellect. I want to complain about so much right now but really..... who wants to listen?🤷‍♂️

With that said. I hope you are finding productive ways to fill your time. Me?
I am building a vegetable garden in my backyard.
I am taking an online class (which has been suspended too🤦‍♂️)
I am researching and developing lesson plans for my cub scouts.
I am spring cleaning my house.
And I am connecting with my family in a way we don't normally have time to for except when on vacations.

We have played monopoly and found out how competitive and smart 8 & 10 year olds can be when money is involved. We have watched Lion King together and just sat and talked for hours.

It's funny what a crisis can do. We have to continue to be diligent and respectful to this troubling time we are in but we also have to continue to be productive and loving. Check on your family's and continue to practice social distancing. If you don't have to go out please don't. Metro Detroit is a hotbed for this dreaded virus. We all know someone who has been effected by it in one way or another.

Please take care of yourself and your family. Think about it like this. You know that mask that drops down on an airplane when an emergency arises? What is the #1 rule? PUT YOUR MASK ON FIRST. take care of yourself my peoples. We shall see each other outside smiling again soon.

Did you get your school packet and breakfast and lunch today? The packets are thick with lots of things for our young scholars to work on.

If you were wondering what the breakfast and lunch consist of here's a sneak peek at today's. I have to say it's a great 2 day package of cereal, milk, juice, fruit, snack cookies, and today they gave chicken legs and seasoned potatoes. Cooked and Frozen ready to heat and eat.

Parents please take advantage of these opportunities to feed and educate your children while we are out of school. I gotta admit these meals are taking a big burden off of my family during these challenging times. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9a-12p
