One of the amazing students at Beech!

Today, we’re getting to know Abby, a fifth grader making a big impact! Abby has been working with a fourth-grade class as a peer tutor, supporting academic growth & fostering a love for learning. The fourth graders love learning from their peers & we’re so proud of Abby for stepping up as a leader! Keep up the great work!

Happy Veterans Day.
Thank you to all who served and all who were able to attend our Veterans day gathering this morning. The time you spent with us was truly impactful for our students. Listening to the children talk to their grandfathers, uncles, fathers, great grandfathers, or neighbors that served was a wonderful way to start our morning with gratitude!

The Redford Fire Department visited Beech to talk to our students about Fire Prevention! Students had the opportunity to review fire safety proticols and get a tour of the ambulance and fire truck! We appreciate the members of the Fire Department for giving their time to our students!

Students in our 4th-6th participated in safety assemblies with Officer Hall today! Students were engaged and Officer Hall did a great job answering questions and helping students feel safe!

Beech and David Ellis staff met today to identify ways we can support a safer arrival and dismissal. Adjustments for timing with arrival and dismissal pick-up are being made at David Ellis. Pembroke will not be utilized for their late arrivals or dismissals until after our traffic is cleared beginning on Monday, January 29th.
We need all of you to help us in ensuring the safety of not only Beech families, but all families that drive on Beech Daly and Pembroke during our arrival and dismissal time.
* Please do not block driveways, roadways, or leave your vehicle at any time unless parked in a designated space.
* Follow the directions of both he Beech and David Ellis Staff as we are directing you where to go.
With close to 1300 students between our two schools, we know that the traffic causes frustration. If each of us follows procedures and does our part to keep those around us safe, it will continue to get better.

Earlier this morning, a Beech parent chose our school page to share her concerns about a situation that occurred yesterday. This post shared inaccurate information, was inconsistent with the content expectations for posts on our school page, has been reported to Facebook, and been removed. Unfortunately, students were dropped off at the building a day prior to the first day of school. Multiple attempts to contact the family - including provided emergency contacts - were made into the afternoon by the Beech main office staff, and the students were well cared for the entire time by a combination of Beech staff and, ultimately, the Redford Township Police Department until the boys were safely reunited with their family. Our number one priority is the safety and welfare of our students. We understand that there may be times where families do not agree with how we approach situations and are always willing to have conversations to ensure that we work together effectively.
