Redding Rancheria Head Start and Child Care

Our 2026 "Culture, Career & Hobby Week" at the Head Start was a great success! Family & community members volunteered to share with our students what they do at work, or a special hobby or cultural activity they enjoy.

A big thank you to: Darrah Hart, Rusty's mom & Redding Rancheria's EPA Manager; Maggie Velazquez, Dental Hygienist from Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center Dental Department; Patty Matson, Daniel’s mom, works at Coleman Fish Hatchery; Jason Nichols, Phoenix’s dad & published children's book author; Pa Sombath, Medical Assistant at Churn Creek Health Care; and Officer Jason Morton from CHP.

Thank you Officer Morton for visiting our school today! We appreciate you taking the time during our “Culture, Career & Hobby Week,” to tell our students about being a law enforcement officer, stranger danger, when & how to call 9-1-1, and car seat safety. Our students loved the coloring books, stickers, and getting to explore & sit in your patrol car.

Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency’s Public Health Branch is investigating a confirmed case of measles in Shasta County. The patient is currently in isolation from others to prevent the spread of this highly contagious disease until their infectious period is over. HHSA Public Health Branch staff are contacting anyone who may have been in contact with this person during their 8-day contagious period.

HHSA staff are working with the following locations to contact employees and members of the public who were at:
• Osaka Sushi, 1340 Churn Creek Rd., on January 23 from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
• Cross Point Church, during a basketball game on January 24 from 1:45 to 5 p.m.
• Costco, 4805 Bechelli Lane, Redding, on January 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Churn Creek Health Care Clinic on January 28 from 1:45 to 5 p.m.
