North State STEM

Ninth graders from Glenn County and across the North State are spending the day at Ignite Opportunity, exploring this year’s theme of Agriculture and Technology. Students are hearing from industry professionals who are showing how science, technology and engineering drive innovation in today’s farms, fields and food systems.🚜

They are connecting directly with local experts and college students, getting real insight into the education and training that lead to ag and tech careers. Hands on activities are challenging them to think creatively, work together and practice essential STEM skills.

Ignite Opportunity is giving students a clearer look at future pathways in agriculture and technology while helping them imagine what possibilities lie ahead.👏

For 11 years we have been putting on this event for the 9th grade students in the North State. (Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, and Trinity Counties)Thanks to some generous sponsors, dedicated STEM businesses, and a hard working committee we did it once again!

Continuing Education units are available through Simpson University or CSU Chico, though the CEUs are not free.
