I am a husband, a father, and a Registered Nurse who has had the privilege of serving Shasta County for more than 17 years. I have also volunteered as a youth sports league director and coach, helping young people learn the value of teamwork, discipline, and personal responsibility. Throughout my nursing career, I’ve partnered with schools across our county to support students and families through a variety of health and education programs.
Education is the foundation of a strong community. Today, more than half of California’s students are not reading at grade level. That must change. As your Shasta County Board of Education Trustee, I have worked to make literacy a top priority because reading is the gateway to every opportunity in life. We have begun making measurable progress, but there is still more work to do.
I will continue working to strengthen academic excellence, support our teachers, partner with parents, and ensure every student has access to an education that prepares them for college, a skilled trade, military service, or a successful career. Together, we can build an education system that equips every child to succeed and strengthens the future of Shasta County.
Because if a child can read, they can do anything.
