The California-Nevada Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (Cal/Nev JATC) will soon begin accepting applications for its Outside Line Apprentice Program.

The Outside Line Apprentice Program helps train future journeyman linemen who build, maintain, and repair the power grid that keeps homes, businesses, hospitals, and communities running throughout California and Nevada.

Here are a few things many people may not know about the program:

⚡ Apprentices are paid while they train
⚡ The program combines classroom instruction with thousands of hours of on-the-job training
⚡ Graduates can go on to become Journeyman Linemen with strong union wages and benefits
⚡ Work can include climbing poles, working from bucket trucks, installing power lines, storm restoration, and maintaining electrical infrastructure
⚡ The apprenticeship is known for being physically demanding, competitive, and highly respected in the trade industry

Typical requirements often include:
• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid unrestricted Class A CDL is commonly required
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions

The California-Nevada JATC is one of the most recognized line apprenticeship programs in the western United States.

Good morning!

We had a comment asking if it’s possible to complete our course while being employed full-time but I can’t find the comment to respond to so….here’s your answer!

It is absolutely, positively possible to obtain your commercial license while maintaining your full-time job! The program was made specifically with the working person in mind 🧠

We have a lot of options, some only requiring you to complete three days of in-person training (20 hours of 1-on-1 personal instruction).

We can custom build a training schedule that works for your busy schedule.
