It’s all fun and games until you try to give your horse a hair cut that won’t embarrass him.

Our language for liberty work is a rough draft, but I can see so many possibilities.

I ask for trot; he offers me piaffe.
I ask for canter; he suggests passage.
I ask for a direction change; he throws in a pirouette.
I ask for a faster canter; he tries a lead change.

For now, it's all just gibberish, but I can't wait for us to develop the words for this stuff.

Am I wrong?

The truest test of an independent seat and a relaxed confident horse is to be able to give up the reins and the stirrups and not loose balance or rhythm.

That’s a glimmer of up hill balance.

6 years of correct strength building and Danni is beginning to sustain an up hill balance at the Canter.

Her and Autumn are consistently nailing the trot transitions too.

It’s amazing to know exactly how far she has come. Her canter was really down hill and tough to ride. Now she feels like she is in control of her shoulders and able to adjust her canter strides.

She’s even able to do some leg yield at canter.

She’s built down hill so she’s had to work much harder to get to this point compared to a horse with better confirmation but the work is worth it! It’s so much better for her to move like this than the way she used to move.
