You are invited to stop in any time during Open House. Teachers will be in their classrooms and available all day, except during lunch and dinner breaks. Short classroom presentations will be at the times listed below.

The Minnesota Twins and United Healthcare Community Champions honored third grade teacher Neil Lahammer July 12 at Target Field. His wife, Meg, and their daughter Bea joined on Target Field before the game. The program celebrates and honors local volunteers, community leaders, and healthcare workers who have made meaningful, lasting impacts in their communities. In April, Lahammer was named the inaugural Kindness 101 Character Counts National Teacher of the Year.

The Burnside Kindness Club has spent weeks painting and decorating rocks with kindness messages. Later this week they will place them in parks all over Red Wing and even some on the Burnside playground. Stay kind everyone.

3-2-1-BLAST OFF! 🚀

Third grade has been launching rockets for over 25 years, and former Burnside teachers Mr. Johnson and Mr. Holm came back on Monday to help with the launching!

The UnitedHealthcare Community Champions program announced this week that it will honor Burnside Elementary School grade 3 teacher Neil Lahammer on Sunday, July 12.

The program recognizes individuals who make a meaningful and lasting impact across Twins Territory. This honor comes on the heels of Lahammer being named the first-ever Kindness 101 National Teacher of the Year. "We’d love to keep the celebration going," the Twins said in an email to Lahammer. They will honor him before the 1:10 p.m. game against the Angels.

In case you didn't know, Lahammer also is longtime Twins fan ... as you can tell by his school photo!

Second grade had a blast at Field Day this morning! It was toasty outside, so they were grateful for the opportunity to get a little wet at some of the stations. Thank you to Mrs. Wallerich, Mrs. Kamps, Mr. Lee, and everyone else who helped make this possible, with a special shout-out and thank you to the Towerview students who volunteered to run stations!

Ms. Goettl's class earned a reward day for working hard with dismissal! They celebrated with chocolate milk and orange juice this morning. The room transformation was made possible by the Red Wing Public Schools foundation!
