Town of Taos and Lensic 360 Present Taos Hometown 4th of July Celebration
Celebrate Independence Day in beautiful Taos with live music, family fun, and community pride at the Taos Hometown 4th of July Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Red Willow Park.
This free community event begins at 4:30 PM, with gates opening at 4:00 PM. Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy an evening of outstanding live music, delicious food, and festive hometown spirit in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
The celebration opens with a special performance by Katy P and the Business, followed by New Mexico favorite Felix y Los Gatos. Led by Felix Gato Peralta, the acclaimed trio delivers a vibrant blend of cumbia blues, zydeco rhythms, Tex Mex swing, and New Mexico soul. Known for powerful performances that celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the Southwest, Felix y Los Gatos brings an energetic and unforgettable sound that gets audiences on their feet.
Headlining the evening is the Mavericks & Friends. For more than three decades, the Mavericks built their Grammy Award winning legacy under the leadership of frontman Raul Malo. Following Raul's passing, band members Paul Deakin, Robert Reynolds, Eddie Perez, and Jerry Dale McFadden continue to honor his remarkable musical influence through the Mavericks & Friends, a live performance that celebrates the band's beloved catalog while carrying its legacy forward.
Guests are encouraged to bring folding or camp chairs, coolers and picnics, sunscreen, a raincoat or warm layers for the evening, and empty reusable water bottles. Please do not bring glass containers, as free water refill stations will be available on site. Food vendors will be on site throughout the event. To help ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone, no alcohol is permitted due to laws regarding alcohol in public parks. Pets are not permitted, with the exception of working service animals wearing a service vest. Professional cameras with detachable lenses, tarps, shade structures, fireworks, and weapons of any kind are prohibited. All bags and other items brought into the event are subject to search.
Due to the current burn ban and in the interest of public safety, there will be no fireworks display this year. The Town of Taos and Taos Fire Department appreciate the community's understanding and cooperation as we work together to protect residents, visitors, homes, businesses, and our natural resources.
This rain or shine, all ages celebration promises an evening filled with music, laughter, community connection, and patriotic pride. Join us as we celebrate our nation's birthday together, Taos style.
