Life School

Life School Life School is a free, public charter school offering K-12 education with a 4-day school week. Today, Life School serves over 3600 students at four campuses.

Life School began in 1998 to serve students and families in southern Dallas. It is through the vision of the Chancellor and founder, Dr. Tom Wilson, that Life School opened its doors with 15 faculty and staff members serving 266 students at the Oak Cliff campus. Since its inception over a decade ago, Life School has experienced substantial increases in enrollment without any form of advertisement. Testimonies from parents to friends, neighbors, and co-workers have fueled rapid growth. Dr. Wilsonโ€™s vision was to provide a quality education and give parents an educational choice regardless of a parentโ€™s ability to pay. He envisioned a tuition-free school with the quality of an expensive private school. After enactment of charter school legislation, Dr. Wilson realized that a charter school was the avenue to fulfill this vision. Through the help of friends, educators and other professionals the charter was drafted and approved by the TEA in the spring of 1998, and the doors opened only a few months later in August 1998.

# # Statement from Life School Superintendent Regarding the Sept. 11th Life School Oak Cliff vs. Bonham High School Football Game # #

Dear Life School Community,

Life School acknowledges that the outcome of last Fridayโ€™s varsity football game between Life School Oak Cliff and Bonham High School fell outside the expectations established by Life School as well as the University Interscholastic League (UIL) for our athletic programs, coaches, and student-athletes.

We acknowledge that the number of points scored during our game should have been managed differently. For this reason, we would like to formally apologize to Bonham ISD, its coaches, student-athletes, families, and the entire Bonham community.

Life School has taken the necessary steps to address this situation and will implement measures to prevent this scenario from happening again. We are committed to learning from this experience and ensuring our actions reflect the values and expectations of The Texas Way and the University Interscholastic League.
