Mercy Catholic High School

Mercy Catholic High School College Preparatory High School Mercy High School, originally named Our Lady of Mercy Academy, was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1882.

During its early years, Mercy Academy educated children in grades K-12. A boarding facility was also available for high school age students. The original school building was located two blocks north of the present high school. In 1959 the elementary and high school separated and Mercy High School moved to its current site. The Sisters of Mercy and other clergy taught most classes until 1960. Their

goal of educating young people in a strong academic and religious environment fostered growth in the school, and as enrollment grew, lay teachers were added to the faculty. By 1983, only the principal and vice principal were Sisters of Mercy. In 1984, Mercy High School became a diocesan school within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento. Mercy High is still a reflection of the ideals the Sisters of Mercy brought to Tehama County over 100 years ago. The school offers a rigorous college preparatory program in a supportive, close community setting. Advanced Placement and Honors programs are available for qualified and interested students. The Mercy athletic and fine arts departments encourage all students to compete in sports activities and school productions. This diverse educational setting encourages all students to reach their highest potential and is the trademark of a Mercy education.

Tommy Wilson, a graduate of MHS, passed away on July 4th. This is a great loss to the Red Bluff community, family and friends. Please hold the family and Tommy’s soul up in prayer.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Hey Alumni another Retirement!

I have had the joy of working with so many great mentors during my time at MHS. 2024 is the year that our beloved Donna Lindeman has decided to hang up her professional hat as a teacher. What lessons or moments has she made you a better person? Share and like!

Personally, she has been a mentor of a
teacher. She has shown me a great balance of work and play that is essential in life and in the classroom. Her addition to the Junior and Senior retreats team was the greatest. You with now have the time to write those memoirs of MHS Retreat. Not to mention the countless Proms, Dances, sporting events and Senior TripsI have been blessed to continue my work in education alongside side her when Mercy closed and several of us moved to Corning Elementary School District.

Enjoy the time with friends and family. Thank you for making the Mercy Family a wonderful place to be.
