In 2021, the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act was signed into law, permanently observing June 19th as a federal holiday commemorating the 1865 emancipation of enslaved persons in the United States.

The Count Basie Center for the Arts and Monmouth Conservatory of Music proudly embrace Juneteenth, recognizing the significance of this date in our nation’s history, and the impact Black Americans have made to our nation’s culture and everyday life.
