With the Fall sports season ready to begin, now is the perfect time to learn how to perform CPR & properly use an AED machine. Sudden Cardiac Arrest is not just a risk for the 40+ age group, student athletes ages 12-21 have a unique risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest related to “Commotio Cordis” Latin for agitate heart. This occurs when the individual suffers a firm impact to their chest particularly directly over their heart which can result in Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Quickly identifying this situation along with rapid initiation of CPR and immediate use of an AED machine will give the individual a chance of surviving the event. There are more reasons why you should learn CPR, over 350,000 SCA events occur out side of the hospital, you never know when or where these emergencies will occur. 1 of those 350,000 individuals might be a loved one or even yourself. Getting you & your family certified could help avoid a tragedy for your family…..or someone else’s.
