Creative Arts would like to announce:

The Laura Burgess Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts Scholarship

Because of the generosity of a private donor, the Laura Burgess Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts Scholarship has been established in Laura's memory. Laura was a beloved friend and gifted music teacher at Creative Arts for many years.

Laura received her Bachelor’s of Music Performance from New England Conservatory of Music and her Masters in Music Education and Viola Performance from the Boston Conservatory of Music.

Laura taught strings at area Public Schools from 1999-2012 and was a part of the Creative Arts team starting in 1999. She taught students with special needs, believing that all students can learn, and enjoyed teaching students of all levels, abilities and ages.

Laura trained in both traditional and Suzuki methods for violin and viola. She was fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish and offered a variety of classes as well as violin and viola lessons.

The scholarship will support Creative Arts programming in music, theater, and visual arts by offering to support students who are financially challenged by subsidizing fees for classes or lessons, purchase or rent music instruments, and purchase art supplies.

Creative Arts wishes to thank this anonymous donor, whose kindness will enable its programs to flourish by continuing to bring music, theater and visual arts to its students in the spirit of Laura’s profound dedication to the arts.
