A long faithful and dedicated career, RiP Harry!

It is with an extremely heavy heart 💔 that we report the passing of our 352nd Project K-9 Hero Pack Member K-9 “Harry” late last night from medical complications.

Harry served as an ATF Certified Accelerant Detection Canine with the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Maine from December of 2016, until November 30th, 2023. Harry was deployed and worked at over 350 fire scenes throughout the Northeastern United States during his career, all throughout Maine and surrounding states.

K-9 Harry had worked with multiple Fire and Law Enforcement agencies, conducting joint investigations. K-9 Harry was responsible locking up countless arsonists, after he searched fire scenes to find the accelerant(s) used to start the illegal fires. Once pinpointed by Harry, it was collected and sent off to the laboratory for testing, and later used in criminal court to make a conviction.

In addition to fire responses, Harry was utilized by the ATF during the two-week fire investigations basic training portion for new agents at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Harry also was utilized by the State Fire Marshal’s Office to teach fire prevention, visit schools and talk to children about fire safety, and conduct over 100 community service events or demonstrations.

Please take a moment to help us remember K-9 Harry for the Hero that he was! PK9H was honored to protect you with medical care and assistance after all you had done to protect the State of Maine and surrounding communities. -
