Introducing Daniel Peycke, our new accompanist for the 2024-2025 school year!

Mr. Peycke, currently the accompanist at Grandview High School, has lived in Raytown with his family since 2018. He loves piano music, and has enjoyed a wide range of musical activities around Kansas City since graduating from UMKC in 2012. In addition to playing for choirs, Mr. Peycke enjoys directing church music, teaching piano lessons, and composing. When he’s not playing the piano, he can often be found at the local park or the KC zoo with his wife and three children. He’s excited for the opportunity to work alongside the talented choirs in his community!

The Raytown High School Theatre and Music Departments are proud to present Sister Act, a hilarious musical comedy based on the popular 1992 film starring Whoopie Goldberg. Deloris Van Cartier is an up and coming performer who, after witnessing a murder, is sent to a convent via the witness protection program. During her stay, she joins the awful, but confident church choir. Through her direction and help, she transforms the drab chorus into a glamorous one.

The Raytown High School Theatre Department, directed by Katie Kolster, will produce the show November 16-18, 2023 at 7:00pm in the RHS auditorium. Tickets can be purchased online by going to www.showtix4u.com and searching “Raytown”, or at the door. Student tickets are $5 while adult tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Today, we said goodbye to our Kawai grand piano that has been at RHS since 1984, and welcomed our new Boston GP-178 from . We are so grateful to our school leadership and board of education for approving this purchase, and thankful to Steinway Gallery Kansas City for their support. Can’t wait to make some beautiful music on this instrument for decades to come!

Is it that time already? Our fall choir concert is tomorrow, Tuesday 10/10, at 7:00pm at RHS. We’re singing some lovely music that reflects on the life, death, and everything in between. And of course, any alumni attending should join us for Beautiful Savior.

The Kansas City Symphony will be presenting their annual Support School Music concert at Raytown High School on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:00pm. All ticket sales will directly benefit the music programs at Raytown High School and Raytown South High School. Our music departments at both high schools will keep 100% of the proceeds. Seating is general admission, and you can purchase your tickets online or at the door. Couldn’t be more proud of our student-musicians from RHS who performed at the state music festival. Everyone did an amazing job, and I love the support they all give to one another by attending each other’s events and cheering on their classmates!

Our choir students brought home four Golds and one Silver!
