Teacher Academy In a world where there is a negative perception of careers in education, we at the Teacher Academy want to change the narrative.

The Teacher Academy helps students identify their career interests, offers teaching experience through field placements, and jump starts their college education with multiple dual credit course options. We help student start their teaching career off strong by:

-offering 6-9 college credit hours towards a teaching degree
-offering exposure to multiple career paths
-providing hands-on, real-world learning experiences through field placements
-providing mentorship through Scholar Teacher's bachelor's program
-incentivizing Scholar Teacher's return to teach at their alma mater post- college
graduation

Our first-year Teacher Academy students had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Lauren Hernandez, Climate and Culture Coordinator for Kansas City, KS Public Schools on October 8, 2026.

She shared valuable insights about urban education and the importance of creating classroom environments where every student feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

Jaisha Grant a first year student shared an important takeaway from the discussion: “Don’t judge someone because of their ethnicity.” This reminder highlights the importance of respecting differences, embracing diversity, and treating every student with fairness and understanding.

🎓 Real-World Learning in Teacher Academy!

We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Jessica Bernard, an experienced school attorney with more than 13 years of experience representing education clients, to the LEAD Center!
Mrs. Bernard will work with our first-year Teacher Academy students on professionalism, student privacy, confidentiality, and professional boundaries—important responsibilities they’ll encounter as future educators.

Through her real-world legal expertise, students will gain insight into the expectations and responsibilities of working in a professional classroom setting and have the opportunity to connect their learning to the field they’re preparing to enter.

Our students are preparing for what’s next, and they need the opportunity to practice with real-world professionals. Your time, experience, and feedback can help students build confidence, strengthen professional communication skills, and gain valuable career insight.

📅 Enterprise & Design: Friday, November 20
