💙🤍 GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN RAVENNA! 🤍💙

In the Ravenna School District, we are committed to providing our students and teachers with the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed! From elementary literacy and math interventions to secondary-level academic coaching and college and career exploration, exciting things are happening across our district!

Ravenna School District Willyard Elementary School
Through grant funding, Willyard has added a literacy tutor to provide targeted reading support for students. We are also grateful for Marla Boltz, who is helping support student attendance, and Todd Martin, Math Regional Specialist, who is working alongside teachers to strengthen math instruction. Willyard Guidance Counselor Mrs. Lohr-Curtis is visiting classrooms to teach important social-emotional learning lessons and has even started a monthly after-school Yarn Club!

Ravenna School District Brown Intermediate School
Grant funding has made it possible to bring Katie Chikik on board as the building's full-time math coach. She is supporting teachers as they implement five days of math intervention each week using the Bridges Math Intervention kits. This dedicated support helps us target student needs and build stronger mathematical foundations!

Junior & Senior High School
Steve Miller, Summit ESC Math Coach, is partnering with our junior and senior high school math teachers to strengthen implementation of our new Illustrative Mathematics curriculum through coaching, collaboration, and lesson modeling.

GEAR UP: Opening Doors to the Future
DJ Harvey, GEAR UP College Now Advisor, continues to create exciting opportunities for our 7th and 8th graders to explore their futures! Upcoming educational field trips to Playhouse Square, Walsh University, and Malone University will give students opportunities to experience new places, explore possibilities, and begin thinking about life beyond high school.

Every one of these initiatives represents an investment in our students, our teachers, and our community. Through grant funding, dedicated staff, instructional coaching, and meaningful learning experiences, we are working together to help every Ravenna student reach their full potential!

Attendance Matters in Ravenna! 💙

Students can’t learn when they aren’t here! Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success, and every school day counts.

We are proud of the many ways our schools, staff, families, and community partners are working together to encourage, celebrate, and reward good attendance—from the Cleveland Browns ’ Stay in the Game! initiative to Random Attendance Days and special celebrations for students with great attendance. 🎉

But improving attendance is a team effort. We need our families and community partners to help our students stay in the game! When students are in school, they have the opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and succeed.

💙 Every day matters. Every student matters. Attendance matters.

Ravenna is moving forward! 💙

Our 2026–2027 District Action Plan is centered on clear goals, high-quality instruction, meaningful interventions, accountability, and preparing every student for success beyond high school.

On September 17, 2026, our District Leadership Team, composed of building administrators and teacher leaders, came together to collaboratively identify priorities and develop an action plan focused on continuous improvement across the district.

Building principals are taking an active instructional leadership role by regularly monitoring progress toward our goals and supporting the implementation of the plan within their buildings. District administrators are also maintaining a visible presence in our schools each day, working alongside staff to provide support, monitor progress, and help remove barriers to success.

Through collaboration, consistent follow-through, and a shared commitment to our students, we are working together to turn our goals into meaningful action and measurable results.

We are proud of the progress reflected in our latest state report card—including 3.0 stars in Gap Closing, a 2.5-star rating for Willyard Elementary (that is a 1.5 star improvement), and a 93.3% graduation rate.

Most importantly, we are continuing the work to ensure every Ravenna student has a clear path toward college, career, military service, or meaningful employment.

It starts here: Education in a Community that Cares. 💙🤍

Congratulations, Matthew and Neveah! 💙❤️We hope all of our Ravens had the best time at Homecoming! 🙌
