More students are finding opportunities within Career Technical Education! There are so many careers to be had with a certificate or degree from a CTE program!

The numbers are in: NIC enrollment is UP 6.2% this fall!

That makes seven semesters in a row that enrollment at North Idaho College has grown.

From making it easier to apply and register for classes to working with local employers to prepare students for jobs right here in North Idaho, NIC has been working to give students more support from day one. New programs like the NIC Guarantee also give eligible graduates extra career support if they don’t find a job in their field within six months of graduating.

The NIC Dental Hygiene program is making a difference while students gain valuable hands-on experience!

Through the NIC Dental Clinic, students are able to put their skills into practice while helping provide dental care to families in the community who may not otherwise have access.

Three North Idaho College Career and Technical Education students have been competing at the SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta, GA this past week!

After winning Skillsusa Idaho state titles in their respective categories, each student is now competing for a national championship.

Reaching the national championships is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the skills these students have developed through their training!

Three local NIC Autobody and Paint Technology students each placed within the top 15 in the nation last week at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, GA!

• Zoe Hunt, from Sandpoint, ID placed 3rd in the nation in Automotive Refinishing Technology.
• Chris Brandt, of Coeur d’Alene, placed 10th in Collision Damage Appraisal.
• Callitia McClintock, of Post Falls, placed 13th in Prepared Speech.

NIC Autobody and Paint Technology Instructor Andy Rogge said. “I couldn’t be prouder of all three of them. They put in the work to get here and performed really well on the national stage.”

For nearly two years, Michael Lesperance made the drive from St. Maries to Coeur d'Alene to attend North Idaho College's Radiography Technology Program.

During his final semester, he rented an apartment near Newport to avoid winter travel over Fourth of July Pass.

This spring, Michael graduated and accepted a position as a radiologic technologist at Bonner General Health.

His story is one of five.

Every graduate in NIC's 2026 Radiography Technology Program passed the national certification exam on their first attempt and secured employment in the field. The program has maintained a 100% first-attempt board exam pass rate since 2018 and a 100% job placement rate since 2019.

Those results are a testament to the dedication of our students, the expertise of our faculty and clinical instructors, and the high-quality education and hands-on training provided through NIC's Radiography Technology Program.

Today, these graduates are already serving patients throughout North Idaho and helping meet a critical workforce need in healthcare.
