Congratulations to our girls in ΑΩΕ who have just been initiated into Order Of The Engineer!

Order Of The Engineer is where you can foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineer profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer. Those within The Order receive a ring that is worn on the fifth finger which signifies that they have accepted the Obligation of an Engineer in the Ring Ceremony.

We cannot wait to see what these women will do in the world during their next steps in life.

Congrats Shelby Guthrie!!! She graduated with Chemical Engineering degree. Her favorite part about her degree was learning all the different industries chemical engineering is used in and meeting some wonderful classmates!

During her time at SDSMT her favorite class she took was Thermo 2 and her biggest achievement was getting inducted into the leadership hall of fame and meeting some lifelong friends.

Shelby's piece of advice for her younger self: From Nicole Miller “college is a marathon not a sprint” spend more time enjoying the company you’re with than stressing about the future or grades."

Congratulations Sami Sheely!!! A couple of days ago Sami graduated from SDSMT with her industrial engineering and engineering in management degree. Her favorite part about her major is how versatile it is. She says, "You can pretty much work in any industry and there are so many options for jobs!"

While at Mines her favorite class she took was Industrial Hygiene. Sami's biggest achievement at SDSMT was passing Calc 1-3 on the first go around. That takes some mad brain power!!! Now that she has graduated her plan is to head east to Connecticut.

Sami's piece of advice for her younger self: Do more internships and take time for yourself.

Congrats to Erela! Yesterday she graduated from SDSMT with a civil engineering degree. Her favorite part about her major is being able to play with dirt, concrete and steel.

While at Mines her favorite class she took was Intro to Civil Engineering. Her biggest achievement during school was in her Intro to Civil class when she and her candidate sister, Sydney Morris, welded a small bridge that held 20,276lbs. She says, "It broke at the weld (meaning are welds were too good) and we won in most of the categories." What a flex!!! Now that she has graduated she plans on going down to Denver, CO to work at Ulteig.

Her piece of advice for her younger self: Don't take your time here at this school for granted. It goes by way too fast. My time here at this school with all these wonderful women has been amazing.

Congratulations to Sydney Morris!!! She graduated TODAY with an industrial engineering major. Her favorite part about her major was she didn't have to focus on a singular thing. She says, "I can go into any industry that I want, the possibilities are endless.".

During her time at SDSMT her favorite class she took was IENG 475 just because the labs were super fun and we got to program robots. Her biggest achievement while at school was was welding a tiny steel bridge with Erela Meyer that held over 20,000lbs. SHEEESH!!! Graduation will take Sydney down to Denver, CO and she will work at Turner Construction.

Sydney's piece of advice for her younger self: Have fun with your friends, the 4 1/2 go by very fast.

This is Mikayla Holt-Broekemeier. She will be graduating from SDSMT in the next few days with a Civil Engineering degree. Her favorite part about this degree is the hands on learning opportunities. She says, "It is really amazing getting to see the process of something that was only a concept to be developed, designed, and then built.".

During her time at Mines, Mikayla's favorite class was Teams and Team Building or Intro to Civil Engineering. Her biggest achievement while at school graduating, starting her career before graduating, getting a dog, and landing a husband. WOW!!! After she has graduated, Mikayla will be moving to Sioux City, IA, and will be working as a structural design engineer for KC Engineering P.C. She will be pursing her masters degree part time through SD. Mines.

Mikayla's Piece of Advice For Her Younger Self: College will be over quicker than you think, so enjoy it while it lasts and enjoy still being a kid. You spend a lot of time as a working adult and don't always have to be in a rush to get there.
