SD Mines Concrete Canoe Team

We had a very successful paddle practice today in this year’s canoe! Can’t wait for regionals this weekend!

A huge thank you to all that helped out this year and a shout out to our sponsors for the support during this years! The concrete canoe team placed third overall and the South Dakota School of Mines ASCE Student Chapter placed first.

Beautiful day in Rapid so the team was able to get some practice in for the upcoming competition.

Sanding and other finishing touches will begin after spring break. Only one month until competition, April 5-7. Look for updates about specific times and locations in the next couple weeks.

Competition is a month away and as many of you know the 2018 ASCE Rocky Mountain Regionals is being hosted by the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. We are still short of our fundraising goal and are asking for your help. Included in this post is a poster with details on how to go about donating and different sponsorship packages we have created. The legacy of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Concrete Canoe team began in 1979 with Tech's Tug. Almost 40 years later this year's team is trying to reinstate the legacy that was started with Tech's Tug. This year's canoe, Legacy, is a tribute to previous years and motivation for years to come. Thank you to all involved in last week's Pour Day. We're excited to see Legacy hit the water and reinstate SD Mines as the powerhouse they once were.

The mold is in and we are a month away from Pour Day! A new mix has been finalized and we will begin proportioning after the holiday break. Thank you everyone for your involvement, and have a Happy Holiday season with your friends and family!
