A huge thank you to Dr. Bolen and her team — Christy, Cheryl, and Tami — for welcoming our students into Custer Dental Studio and providing such an incredible hands-on learning experience!

Our students had the opportunity to earn their nitrous certification while also practicing valuable clinical skills including intraoral imaging and using a CEREC scanner. They learned so much and truly enjoyed the experience.

We greatly appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to support our students and provide this amazing educational opportunity. Thank you for your continued support of the WDTC Registered Dental Assisting program and for helping our students learn and grow in the field of dentistry!

This week, our students learned how to place dental sealants, an important preventive treatment used to protect teeth from decay.

Sealants are applied to the pits and fissures of teeth, creating a protective barrier that helps prevent bacteria from collecting and forming cavities. This simple procedure plays a key role in maintaining long-term oral health.

Great job to our students as they continue building essential preventive care skills.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month!

This month is dedicated to raising awareness about oral cancer and the importance of early detection. Regular dental visits play a key role in identifying signs early, which can greatly improve outcomes.

Common signs to watch for include sores that don’t heal, lumps, red or white patches, or difficulty chewing or swallowing. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to seek evaluation from a dental professional.

Encouraging routine screenings and maintaining good oral health habits can make a difference. Early detection saves lives.

This week, our students are continuing to build their clinical skills as they practice coronal polishing on typodonts in preparation for completing this skill on their classmates next week. This step helps build confidence, technique, and patient readiness.

In addition, students are learning pulp vitality testing, including both electronic and cold thermal methods. These techniques are used to assess the health of a tooth’s pulp and are an important part of dental diagnostics.

It’s great to see their skills and confidence continue to grow through hands-on learning.
