Saturday March 28th was the South Dakota State Scholastic Tournament and I am thrilled to report that many of the Chess Connection kids placed in their divisions. I want to Congratulate Dalton Eckmann, for Winning 1st Place this year in the K-8 Division. I also want to Congratulate Spencer Sachs (K-8) and Emily Weber (K-5) for taking 2nd Place in their divisions. Congratulations to Andrew Mallams who took 5th place in the K-5 division. Awesome job guys you did your best and it paid off.

Also this year Dalton and Emily both will be representing South Dakota at the Nationals in Phoenix AZ. Dalton will be representing us at The Barber of Champions (K-8) Tournament and Emily will be representing South Dakota at The 2015 National Girls Invitational Tournament. I cant wait for all of us to go it will be a blast. I will be joining them down in Phoenix, AZ to encourage and support them.

USCF Membership required Memberships available on site.
Where: The Chess Connection, 1109 W Omaha St. Suite E
When: Saturday March 7th from 8:30am to 3:30pm
Who: Open to ALL Players
Cost per person: $15 for K-5 and K-12. The Open section is $20
Lunch: 12:00 to 12:30pm - On your own or for $3 get 2 slices of pizza and a bottle of water

Come and join us and have a chance to win a trophy or some cash!!!!
Trophy's for K-5 and K-12 Sections. Cash Prizes for the Open Section. (Based on the amount of entry's)

Blitz is where
You are playing chess but the game is at a fast pace and you are timed. You can take the king in this game as well. So come play both these very fun games at the tournament this Saturday Feb. 7th hope you can make it. :)

Bughouse is where
You are playing chess but a couple of the rules are different some of the main ones are for one you can take the king in this game also you have a partner which he/she will hand the pieces they take off from there opponent and give them to you and you can place them anywhere on the board except pawns cant go on the very back rank on either side. We will explain the rules at the tournament if you have never played. This is a great way to meet new people and make some friends. It is a lot of fun. If you don't have a partner it is ok partners will be assigned at the tournament. Hope to see you there :)
