SDSM&T Mining Team SDSM&T's team for the annual Intercollegiate Mining Games. Welcome to the SDSM&T Mining Team! It consists of seven events based on past mining techniques.

Zachary Figus is an intern with Heidelberg Materials at the Lake Bridgeport plant in Texas. Some of the things Zach has been up to include:
- Optimizing cycle times utilizing a third-party software.
- Exposure to blasting operations and he helped fill and detonate both a highwall and sump blast.
- Operating heavy equipment, 990k pit loaders, haul trucks, and water trucks.
- Repairing and maintaining parts of the wash plant, such as, wash screens, catwalks, blade mills, and tail pulleys.
- Moving stackers, grease pulleys for conveyor belts.
- Inspecting heavy equipment, hsi and vsi crushers, conveyor belts, blade mills, and screens.
- Utilizing ASTM standard testing procedures for quality assessment of finished product being shipped.
- Helping create a safe working environment for all personnel.

Tamsyn Kockler is working at Caterpillar this summer in Controls Systems and Semi-Autonomous System Tuning on excavators. Her days are spent between control system design and operating machines to test the systems. In June she attended the Baja SAE New York competition where she drove the car in several events. Beyond her internship Tamyn's summer has been spent learning control systems, small scale data acquisition, and the inner workings of a CVT.

Grayson Caricofe is interning this summer at the Pogo Mine southeast of Fairbanks Alaska. His internship is in the Geotechnical Engineering Department where he does underground inspections, works on drill rigs, and performs geotechnical tests.

This summer Jayde Jordhall is working in Cripple Creek Colorado at the CC&V Gold Mine, owned by SSR Mining.

Jayde is a Metallurgical Engineering Intern, and is enjoying his time learning about gold extraction, and the heap leach operations. When Jayde is not working, he is enjoying his time exploring the mountains of Colorado and fighting off bears. Jayde says that his internship has been an amazing opportunity so far, and he is excited to get back to mining and mucking in the fall!

We are sad to say goodbye to our senior Brandon Armstrong. Brandon has been with the team for five years while studying for his dual major in Mining Engineering and Geological Engineering. And he will be heading up to Northern Star in the Pogo mine in Alaska.
Brandon has done so much for this team, and we thank him for everything he has done this past five years, and the team wishes him the best of luck for all of his future endeavors.
