Last night, Patty Timmons was recognized at the Rapid City Public School Foundation Evening of Excellence Banquet as an exemplary CTE/Pathway student who has excelled in the classroom, engaged with industry, and earned industry certifications! Patty recognized Ms. Genetie Hendrix as a teacher who made the greatest impact on her education.

State Convention is over, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to Brookings for this event! This year, we got to see two current and former members receive scholarships to help in college, as well as celebrate six of our members as they received their State FFA Degrees! In addition, we got to see our alum and 2024-2025 state FFA secretary, Ethan Hendrix, as he delivered his retiring address and passed on his responsibilities to a new member. State Convention was a great experience for all members that attended!

We are officially off to State Convention! We have 13 competitors and delegates traveling with us to Brookings to engage in all of the wonderful experiences State Convention has to offer. We are excited for our competitors and hope that every member will learn new things and embrace the qualities that are taught in FFA!

Our state qualifier competitions are finished, and we're off to state convention next! We traveled to Hot Springs for our final practice competition, and we are proud of our members! On the Meat Evaluation team, Henry Hovde earned 1st place, Alexa Roland earned 6th, and Jack Nelson placed 10th. The team earned first overall and qualified to compete at state! On the Livestock Evaluation team, Ty Hoffman placed seventh, and in Vet Science, Jadyn Bennett placed third. Finally, on the Natural Resources team, Lilija Coleman placed third, and the team placed third overall as well. We leave for Brookings in just a few days, and we are proud of all of our members that have earned their place to compete there!

We are so proud of our chapter president, Patty Timmons, for receiving the Jeff Hoffman Memorial Scholarship! Congratulations to her!

CDE Season continues, and our chapter members continue to make us proud! We travelled to Sturgis for our first State qualifying competition today, and our teams performed very well! On the Natural Resources team, Lilija Coleman placed first, Lyra Saunders placed fourth, and the team placed first overall, earning them a spot at the State Convention! In Vet Science, Jadyn Bennett placed seventh, and as for Livestock, Daphne White and Ty Hoffman placed sixth and seventh respectively. Finally, for our Meat Evaluation team, Alexa Roland placed first and Henry Hovde placed fifth! We are proud of our competitors and look forward to seeing them succeed again next week!

Our CDE season has officially started off with a bang! We travelled to Newell today for our first competition of the year, and are proud of our teams and competitors! On our Meat Evaluation team, Alexa Roland earned third, Henry Hovde earned second, and the team placed first! Daphne White also placed first individually in Livestock Evaluation, and in Natural Resources, Lyra Saunders placed fourth, Lilija Coleman placed first, and the team as a whole placed second! Way to start off our competition season!

As FFA week continues, so does our member spotlight! These are our third and fourth-year members, those who have become familiar with FFA and its impact on our youth today. As these members prepare to close this chapter in their lives, whether this is their last year in FFA or they still have another, we wish them the absolute best in years beyond!
