When we can build a generation of kids who embrace out of the box thinking, the possibilities are endless for our future. STEAM programming is essential for our community

. Experts have named the skills of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication as the most important 21st century skills that kids need to master to feel confident and capable in our ever changing world. Our children deserve to flourish in a learning environment that promotes growth. On our website, you will find more about STEAM, tutoring, and about the owners! 🚀 The wait is finally over—STEAM week is officially here! ⚙️🎨🔬
We are thrilled to launch our school-wide STEAM program this week at three Rapid City Area Schools! This year, every single student at our contracted schools will dive into hands-on learning that bridges science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Our STEAM program travels to classrooms where students will solve real-world problems, build collaboration skills, and unleash their creativity. Get ready for a year filled with building, creating, and experimenting!

📸 Parents, Administrators, and Teachers: Find more information about our school-wide program on our website! We have collaborated with afterschool programs, school events, PTA fundraisers, and more! 💡🎒

If you're familiar with Deanna and Jamie (that's me) or have seen our posts, you probably know we tend to keep a little privacy about ourselves! We recently needed some fresh professional photos, and luckily, my sister came out of her "retirement" to help us capture new pictures our Dakota STEAM. We hope you enjoy our updated photos!

Meet the STEAM Team
Megan Paull
I have been fortunate to spend many years doing what I love, helping kids learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of. I taught third grade for nine years before taking some time away from the classroom to raise my three boys. I later returned to teaching kindergarten for two years, and I am now beginning my third school year with Dakota STEAM Learning.

One of my favorite things about Dakota STEAM is watching students learn to think critically, be brave enough to try something new, and persevere when things get challenging.

I also love that Dakota STEAM gives me the opportunity to work with students and teachers throughout the state. Getting to experience different schools and communities, build relationships, and connect with so many amazing kids is truly one of the best parts of my job.

Meet the STEAM Team
Robin Fenner
I worked at RCAS for 25 years at the Elementary Level across 3 different schools: Knollwood, Canyon Lake, and South Park.
Working in the STEAM program gives me the opportunity to continue working with students while still being retired.
I have 4 children, 6 grandkids, and 4 great-grandkids, and have been married to my husband, Norm, for 44 years.

Meet the STEAM Team!
Keri James
She started her teaching career in 2012 as a kindergarten teacher. In 2018, she looped with her class to 1st grade. In 2019, she decided to stay home with her children. Being a stay-at-home mom was wonderful, but teaching called. Keri started with Dakota STEAM learning in 2024.

“STEAM teaching has given me the opportunity to work with so many different children from all over our community. Working with kids has always been my favorite part of teaching. I love talking with them and hearing their thought processes when given a challenge.”

Ever wonder how a tiny dandelion seed can travel so far?
Our Dandelions in the Breeze digital lesson invites students to discover the science behind seed dispersal while creating a beautiful watercolor masterpiece inspired by nature.
As students explore how wind helps dandelions spread their seeds and why this adaptation is essential for plant survival, they’ll use crayon resist and watercolor techniques to bring drifting seed fluffs to life. It’s the perfect combination of science, creativity, and hands-on learning that keeps students engaged from start to finish.
Ready to bring this lesson to your classroom or home? Visit our website to download the Dandelions in the Breeze lesson and explore our growing digital lesson library filled with ready-to-use STEAM activities designed to inspire curiosity and creativity.
