Shout out to former Cadet Vincent Austin!
He was selected as "Soldier of the Cycle" and graduated Army Basic Training on August 27, 2026.

Soldier of the Cycle is awarded based on leadership, physical fitness and overall performance through all of Basic Combat Training.

After AIT Vincent will return to Rapid City as a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard.

Congratulations to our very own PV2 Chevy Eppens!

He graduated Army Basic Training last week. He is a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard. He will continue his Army training after he graduates Central HS next May.

Happy 26-27 School year!!! It is hard to believe that our first week is almost over.

We would like to introduce and welcome CW3 Ryan Williamson. He is the new Central HS Senior Army Instructor. He replaced 1SG Ryan Wheele who moved to Indiana over the summer.

Good evening. I just wanted to let everyone know that Central HS JROTC is not selling or ordering alumni shirts, hoodies, jackets etc.

If you get a request to purchase Central JROTC Alumni Gear it is a scam and not authorized by the Central JROTC Instructors or Army Cadet Command.

Today we were able to honor those who have died in service to this country. Thanks to Fleet Farm for hosting TAPS across America and remembering those who gave all for our freedoms.

On Saturday, May 16 our Color Guard was privileged to support the South Dakota America Pageant.

Thanks to the Cadets that came out and conducted the Color Guard. (Cadets, Herman - Engel, Houska, Kraemer, Stewart, Steinback, and Rivas.)

2025-2026 JROTC Annual Awards Ceremony! So many of our Cadets did such a phenomenal job this year in the program, and it was great to recognize those who really stood out this year.

A huge thanks to our families for standing behind these Cadets and to the agencies that came out to support our program!

2026 Black Hills Raider Challenge!

We hosted 16 schools and over 20 teams for our annual Raider meet. The competition was tough but we managed to place third for the obstacle course.

Our teams did a fantastic job out there and we couldn’t be more proud of them. We can’t wait to fire things back up next year.

Thanks to Mr. Bussell from the Rapid City Fire Department for stopping by to talk about opportunities with their Fire Cadet program.

Interested families and students going into their Junior or Senior year should stop by Station 1 on Monday, May 11th at 6 pm to learn more.

The LET 1 Cadets completed the final uniform inspections for the 25 - 26 SY. They have come a long way.
