Western Plains USD 106 We are a small school in Western KS with big values and a commitment to quality education in a safe and orderly learning environment.

We are a SMALL school with BIG values located in the heart of Kansas. Western Plains UDS 106 consists of the communities of Ransom, Bazine, Brownell, Arnold and Utica. Our district is one-of-a-kind, with two campuses: Western Plains North, Ransom, and Western Plains South, Bazine, which both house Pre-K-12 students. This allows students to attend the school of their choice, making an excellent edu

The high school volleyball team will travel to Dighton for a triangular on Thursday, Sept. 3.

Start time is 4:00 p.m. CT. Order of matches is:

Western Plains JV vs. Wichita County JV. (north court)
Western Plains Varsity vs. Wichita County Varsity (south court)
Western Plains varsity vs. Dighton Varsity (south court)

Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students.
Full concessions will be available.
🔴 We need to furnish a line judge for our matches, and also will need a libero tracker. Please contact Coach Flax if you would be willing to do either job.

The junior high volleyball team hosted LaCrosse at Bazine last evening in their season opener. Although the A team lost to LaCrosse in 3 sets, they played hard and competitively. The squad also played 2 sets of jamboree style sub-A volleyball, which gave all young players valuable court time and ball touches.

Coaches for the team this year are Alana Flax and Rachel Lee.

The team will travel to Winona on Thursday for a 4:00 match against the Vikings. Order of games is a full A team match, followed by one set of B team. The football game will follow at 5:30 p.m.

🌱 Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum… Look at how much learning we’ve begun! 🏰✨

Our Kindergarteners and 1st–2nd graders turned into little engineers today! Inspired by the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, our students put their STEM thinking caps on to design and build their very own beanstalks! 🫘🌿

Using the STEM Engineering Design Loop (Ask ➡️ Imagine ➡️ Plan ➡️ Create ➡️ Experiment ➡️ Improve), our student engineers explored key concepts.
