It is that time of year. The big city has nothing on us small town villagers in Rankin , il. I have available applications for office. You want to be the Village Clerk, or Village Board Member, then sing out and step up. Come to the Library Saturday 930am to 11am, Tuesday from 930am to 1030am (we sit around and have coffee and solve the problems of the world) Monday 4pm to 530pm Wednesday 130pm 3pm. Come on throw your hat in the ring. Don't let time run out. Just Do It.

It sure is quiet in our little town. The children are back to school. I miss the hustle and bustle they presented each day. The bicycles that zoomed down the streets. The voices that called to one another . The chaos of our children during the summer. I recall the days of my youth where summer never seemed to end. The calm in our town also represents the return of fall. I have already noticed a few yellow and orange leaves, it seems far to early for this to occur. I had the privilege to speak with some of our Rankin children about their 1st day back to school. I asked what was the silliest thing that happened today. Much to my surprise one 6th grader spoke up and said getting lost in the hallway, another girl saying having a 7th grader make fun of my curly hair. To which he
then punched me gently in the arm. My response was ...oh males especially at that age, do not know how to express a liking for someone. So a little jab to the arm is your clue. However, school is your job at the moment. So do not become distracted from your goal. Nothing wrong with being smart. Another 6th grader spoke up and said he was stabbed in the arm with a pencil point, another girl tossed her nose ring into the air.. all this on the bus ride to school. Oh my. We keep our children close to our hearts. We only want the best for them. As parents we need to impress the importance of a great education. Set the example, give positive guidance and encouragement. These children have a future in running the Great and Powerful United States of America. We are all responsible to watch out for these kids. Its takes a village, just like ours.

I am happy to say that the Rankin United Methodist Church, Clothing Closet will be open August 22, 2026 Saturday. from Noon to 3pm in the basement of the Church. Thank you for inquiries for When. Makes it even more rewarding. See you there.

Save the Date, Parents and their children that LIVE in Rankin get ready because school starts soon. All the parents say yeah. . It is "Back to School Night" August 5th, 2026, 5PM - 7PM @ Grace Lutheran Church in Rankin , IL. Due to the rain & weather, tonight’s tractor pull has been called due to the track conditions.
However, the concession stand and beer garden will be open beginning at 3:00pm.
So come on out and get some good food and drinks!!! See less
