Yesterday we worked on color sorting!
We used Froot Loops to fill in a rainbow.
Once the kids were done sorting the Froot Loops, I sat down with each child and had them count the number of Froot loops in each row!

This activity was perfect for color sorting, strengthening fine motor skills and counting aloud!

This week we are learning all about snow and ice! Today we used cool whip for our sensory activity. We practiced writing letters, shapes and numbers in it. Some friends even wrote their own names in it. The best part was being able to lick it off our fingers when we were done 🤣

This week we learned all about the 5 senses!

On Monday, we used special glasses that made the lights on our Christmas tree look like snowflakes! This was such a fun way to learn about our sense of sight!

On Tuesday we learned about our sense of smell! We mixed hot chocolate powder with brown paint to make mugs of hot chocolate! ☕️ The room smelled so good!

On Wednesday we practiced using all 5 senses. I filled 5 brown paper bags with mystery items. The bags contained; chocolate chips, marshmallows, wrapping paper, a plastic ornament and jingle bells. The kids were able to shake the bag to see what they could hear inside of it. They were able to smell it with their eyes closed. They were able to touch it by reaching inside of the bag and some of them even pulled the item out of the bag to taste it! The chocolate chips and marshmallows were a big hit. It was so fun to see if they could guess what the item was without seeing it.

Today we used our sense of touch to build a snowman. We used air dry clay to roll out 3 different sized balls of clay to build the body. We also used different art supplies to accessorize their snowmen. We used fuzzy pipe cleaners, smooth buttons, bumpy googly eyes and fuzzy cotton balls. The snowmen looked great when they were all done! ⛄️

We had such a great week!!

We spent some time outside but also used our indoor gross motor toys for those rain filled days.

We made pumpkin spice playdough this week! We also did candy corn color sorting and open ended Halloween themed art, and preschool/kindergarten level worksheets with my older friends.

This week we focused on the letter H for Halloween and the number 5 like in our Five Little Pumpkins song.

AND OF COURSE we broke out our costume bin in honor of Halloween!!
