Today we had a field trip to Wilkins Harley-Davidson. I know Harley-Davidson don’t have diesels. The reason we visit Wilkins is because of their customer service and professionalism. I also like to visit with two of my former students, Jon Sargeant and Shawn Chaloux. We got a tour of the facility and run a motorcycle on the dyno. Thanks to Roscoe and Marissa for telling use about their jobs and how they got to working at Wilkins and showing us the dyno. Thank you Wilkins Harley-Davidson for your hospitality hosting our class today.

What a great day. Today we hosted Challenge day, we challenge now traditional students to come in and try out our programs. It’s put on by Vermont works for Women. In Diesel we had 5 stations set up for the girls to try. We had electrical, transmissions, rear differentials, driveshafts and live engines. My student knocked this right out of the ball park. They did a great job explaining what they knew about the class, the station that they chose and making the girls feel welcome. My two female students really rocked it by sharing their experience in the class, getting ready to compete in SkillsUSA Diesel competition next week and job interviews at VTRANS. These students make me very proud to say I’m their instructor.
