Today, we bid a fond farewell and extend our warmest wishes to one of our most cherished music teachers, Yoshino Stanbrook.

For 21 incredible years at Higashi, Yoshino has been a guiding light for countless students on their musical journeys. Watching her inspire, teach, and nurture our community over the decades has been a true privilege.

While she will be deeply missed, we are thrilled for her as she steps into this next chapter of life. Thank you, Yoshino, for 21 years of heart, dedication, and harmony!

Over in Holbrook, our parking lot was transformed into an exciting race course for the annual Emergence Program Bike Race! This event is always a favorite, as families joined us to cheer on students zipping around the track to take home a win for their class. Of course, the day wouldn't be complete without our fiercely competitive staff and parent races—where, for the first time ever, our veteran staff claimed ultimate victory over the young whippersnappers! We capped off the festivities with a delicious family cookout. A huge shoutout to Lucy, Peter, and Tommy for braving the heat at the grills! Also a cool thank you to J.P. Licks for the ice cream!

Friday may have been a hot one, but that didn’t stop us from making a big splash at Higashi’s annual Sibling Day! Students welcomed their brothers and sisters for a action-packed day of refreshing water activities. The highlight of the event was debuting our brand-new dunk tank—with a huge shoutout to Principal King for taking the plunge and braving the splash zone all in the name of good fun and great laughs!

Our middle schoolers tried their hands at Gyotaku this week—the traditional Japanese art of fish printing (gyo = fish, taku = impression). We’re hooked on how these unique prints turned out!

Our Family Swim sessions have been such a fantastic addition this year! We’ve loved seeing our Higashi students, families, and friends laughing, splashing, and catching some sun by the pool.

We had a wonderful day earlier this week hosting our friends from Japan!

Professor Takashi Okada—a professor at Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU) and a professional bodybuilder—visited Boston Higashi School today for a campus tour after winning a tournament just two days ago! A major highlight of the day was getting to introduce him to some of our alumni who graduated from the very same university!

We were also deeply honored to welcome Mr. Ken Okazaki (Special Advisor to Office Bazooka Okada, Co. Ltd.), Consul General Seiichiro Takahashi, and Consul Ryutaro A*o. Thank you for an unforgettable visit!

This week, the Higashi family is saying farewell to one of our own! Melissa, a longtime teacher in our Middle School Division, is leaving us to start her next big adventure. Over the years, she has poured her heart into transforming our students' lives and building a supportive community within her division. While she will be dearly missed by everyone here, we wish her nothing but happiness and success in this next chapter. Thank you for everything, Melissa!

Higashi has been hosting Family Swim nights on Saturdays, giving students a wonderful opportunity to swim in our pools alongside their parents and siblings. This new program has been a fantastic success with great attendance. Parents are absolutely loving the extra quality time to connect and bond with their children!
