⭐️Essential Tips for Success with Distance Learning⭐️
1- Set up a dedicated workspace ✏️
Having a designated space for school work helps cue your student's brain that it is time to learn. There are not many requirements, but the space you choose should be away from distractions and well-lit.
2- Create a schedule with the whole family 📅
Establishing structure is critical for most students, but balancing multiple school schedules in addition to your own can be quite a challenge! Make it a routine to sit down, as a family, to create a schedule that will satisfy everyone's needs. Depending on your families needs you may choose to create a weekly schedule or daily schedule.
3- Take short movement breaks, frequently 💃🕺
Incorporate "movement minutes" into your student's routine. Set the timer for one minute and get some the fidgets out. Put on your favorite song and dance, find a quick yoga video on YouTube to follow, jog in place or up and down the stairs, or any activity that keeps your body moving. Movement breaks are helpful for everyone, no matter the age, but frequency will depend on your individual student.
4- Ask for support when you need it 🤝
This is a learning experience for everyone and no one is perfect! You will need help at some point and that's okay! This is a great opportunity to help your student learn to self-advocate, if they have questions about their assignments or need clarification take the time to contact the teacher together.
