SAVE THE DATE: Valhalla is opening its doors on Wednesday, September 2nd to welcome parents/guardians to PARENT NIGHT!

The evening will begin with presentations in the Thunderdome at 5:00pm.
At 5:30pm, the campus will be open - walk through the halls of Valhalla at your leisure. You can visit your student’s classrooms, meet your counselor, or visit an informational table in the Student Center.

Ceremony takes place on the East Lawn at 11:02am! We kindly ask parents/observers to watch from the edge of the East Lawn.

Valhalla is excited to welcome Jake Smith as our new Education Specialist, supporting students with Extensive Support Needs.

Jake has spent the past three years with GUHSD, serving as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher in Extensive Support Needs classrooms across several school sites. This year, he steps into a permanent role as an ESN Teacher here at Valhalla.

Jake holds a Master's degree in Anthropology from San Diego State University, and brings a genuine love of history, culture, and community into his work with students. He's passionate about connecting with each learner as an individual and finding creative ways to make education more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for every student.

Valhalla is grateful to have Jake join our special education team, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Norsemen family. Welcome to the Orange Nation, Jake!

Valhalla is proud to welcome back Adam Pezdek as our new Instrumental Music Teacher. A Mount Miguel graduate, Adam served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Marine Musician, followed by four years as an ensemble director with the San Diego Youth Symphony. His teaching career began in the Chula Vista Elementary School District and continued as Band and Choir teacher at West Hills High School, before joining Valhalla in 2017 as Instrumental Music Teacher.

During that tenure, Adam led the marching band to State Championships and pushed the orchestra to collegiate-level repertoire. After three years teaching Instrumental Music at Lemon Grove Academy Middle, Adam was called to return home to his Norsemen family.

Adam regularly performs around town with the San Diego Concert Band and serves as his church's worship leader and piano player. He's excited to return to Valhalla as our Instrumental Music Teacher. Welcome back to the Orange Nation, Adam!

Valhalla is excited to welcome Jackson Kunz as our new Education Specialist, supporting students with Extensive Support Needs.

Jackson has been part of the GUHSD family for most of his life — he's a West Hills High School graduate, class of 2008, and spent the last 13 years down the road at Monte Vista High School as a Paraprofessional, ASSETs Coordinator, and Wrestling Coach. This year, he steps into Valhalla as an ESN Teacher, and we're thrilled to bring his enthusiasm and years of experience to our special education team.

On the personal side, Jackson is married to Kaylie Kunz, whom he met back at West Hills, and the two are proud parents of three children.

Valhalla is grateful to have Jackson join our team supporting our students with extensive needs, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Norsemen family. Welcome to the Orange Nation, Jackson!
