Every week when Miranda arrives for their lesson, Mischa comes running into the studio. She loves listening to Miranda sing so much that today we had to pull up a chair for her! Though I’m happy to keep the cats away from the studio, some people like Miranda absolutely love hanging out with them during their lessons. 😺

This past weekend I had the joy of meeting Michelle from in real life instead of over Zoom! Without the Speakeasy Cooperative, I would be a very different teacher and business owner than I am today. My studio is entering yet another phase of growth and development, so chatting with Michelle was just what I needed to keep my mojo going. 🤗

I’m at Moore Middle School today for Career Day! It’s really cool to be able to introduce kids to the idea that there are many careers in music aside from exclusively performing. 🤗

My sweet client Julie gifted me this glass tumbler from with the words “Inspire, Create, Repeat” on it. One of the exercises that Julie and I have utilized to help her ease tension in her voice involves blowing bubbles into water through a straw while humming. This tumbler is perfect for that exercise, or for my afternoon Coke Zero. 😎😂

When we started together, Julie was convinced that there were certain things her voice just couldn’t do. Now she’s singing in ways she didn’t think possible and trying out new skills in every lesson. Plus, she told me she’s just more comfortable with her voice and sings more often, which makes me unbelievably happy to hear! Everyone, say hi to Bernadette! 👋 Bernadette has been taking weekly singing lessons as part of an annual lesson subscription since October, and she is starting to notice some pretty amazing things happening. Not only does singing feel easier all around, but she’s feeling less self-conscious when she sings!! Bernadette is an avid practicer, so I credit her hard work and consistency as well as weekly check-ins with me for her progress. In only 3 months she’s worked on songs from several genres in Spanish, English, and most recently, Italian! With 9 months left to go in her current lesson subscription, Bernadette’s potential progress feels unlimited. 🤩✨

Congratulations to longtime studio member Sarah for her portrayal of Judy Haynes in Inland Master Chorale’s production of White Christmas the Musical! Not only did she sing wonderfully, but she kept the audience laughing for the whole show, all while looking like a movie star! It’s such a joy to get to perform onstage with folks from my studio and see their hard work come to life! 🥰
